  14. PAGES SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES FIRST SHIPMENT OF PAGES 1.5

  16. SEPTEMBER 30, 1994 - SAN DIEGO, CA _ Pages Software today announced
  17. it has begun world-wide shipment of Pages 1.5, a significant upgrade
  18. from Pages by Pages 1.0, the company's premiere ObjectBased(tm)
  19. word-processing application, which shipped last March.

  21. Pages 1.5 is an ObjectBased word-processing solution that can range
  22. from a single-user personal word-processor, to a complete
  23. enterprise-wide document environment.

  25. The new release of Pages contains many new features requested by
  26. our customers, as well as modifications to the user interface to
  27. make Pages easier to use.  Larry Spelhaug, President and CEO of
  28. Pages Software Inc says this of the new release, "We are listening
  29. to customer feedback and are responding by improving our product
  30. in ways that will make our users more productive." The results have
  31. come quickly and are quite significant.

  33. Pages 1.5 includes enhancements to the user interface that make
  34. the product easier to use, and new features such as a Ruler, Speed
  35. Bar, Keybindings, Tabs, the ability to specify font size and leading,
  36. Mail Merge, enhanced word-processor filters, and an additional
  37. Design Model.

  39. "A revision of this significance would not have been possible to
  40. do in a six-month time-frame without the underlying architecture
  41. and tools the NEXTSTEP environment provides for us," states Jim
  42. Hamerly, Pages' Vice President of Engineering. "While the first
  43. rev of Pages didn't come out as quickly as we'd have liked,"
  44. continues Hamerly, "time taken in properly architecting the product,
  45. along with the tools available in the NEXTSTEP environment, allowed
  46. us to quickly make significant improvements in our new release."
  47. Pages is one of the few applications available today that was
  48. designed entirely with objects from its inception.

  50. Pages 1.5 is offered as a free upgrade to Pages 1.0 retail customers,
  51. and will be sold for $49.00 as an educational upgrade. The product
  52. lists at $595.00 for new customers, with an educational discount
  53. to $195.00. Site license discounts are available.

  55. Pages is sold through authorized resellers worldwide, as well as

  59. Pages is available for Motorola-, Intel- and HP PA-RISC-based
  60. versions of NEXTSTEP. System requirements are NEXTSTEP 3.1 or higher
  61. with a minimum of 20MB of hard disk space and 16MB of RAM. For
  62. NEXTSTEP Intel, 1024 x 768 or greater resolution is recommended,
  63. with a minimum of 20MB of hard disk space and 16MB of RAM. The
  64. product is available initially on magnetic media, and will soon be
  65. released on CD-ROM .
